Let Claude and other AI agents read your YouTube videos (MCP)
AI assistants cannot watch a YouTube video. They can read its transcript, if something gives it to them.
YouTube Collector has an MCP server at https://youtubecollector.com/mcp. An agent that speaks the Model Context Protocol, such as Claude Desktop, connects to it with a token you create. It then works with your own library: the same videos, transcripts, summaries and chapters you see when you sign in.
What an agent can do:
- list and search your saved videos
- read one video: transcript, summary and chapters
- add a YouTube link to your library
- browse the shared community library
- write a blog post, thread or LinkedIn draft from a video
- check your plan and remaining quota
How to connect:
- Sign in and open Settings → Agent access.
- Create a token and copy it. It is shown once.
- Add the server to your agent with the token as a Bearer header. The setup for Claude Desktop is on the Agent API page.
A token acts as you: same library, same limits, nothing more. It cannot reach anyone else's videos. Free accounts get 3 tokens, Pro 10, Creator 25.
